ROAR- Reach Out And Recover

Advocacy Lead: Martin Whitehead

ROAR Kent is a dynamic, grassroots-led community advocacy network dedicated to amplifying the voices of individuals and families affected by mental health challenges, social exclusion, and systemic disadvantage. With a strong presence across Kent, ROAR (Reach Out and Recover) works to ensure that lived experience is not only heard—but central to decision-making, service design, and systemic change.

At the heart of ROAR Kent’s work is a commitment to empowerment through advocacy, peer support, and direct action. The network provides a platform for people with lived experience to co-produce solutions, influence local policy, and hold services accountable to the communities they serve. ROAR promotes trauma-informed practice, equality, and social justice, ensuring that every individual—regardless of background—has access to a safe space where their story matters.

Leading this mission in the Swale area is Martin Whitehead, ROAR’s dedicated Advocacy Lead. With years of personal and professional experience navigating mental health and community support systems, Martin brings deep insight, integrity, and passion to his role. He is a strong advocate for co-production and user-led change, often working alongside statutory and voluntary organisations to drive inclusive, community-based improvements.

Martin is instrumental in facilitating peer-led forums, speaking at public events, and mentoring individuals who are ready to step into advocacy roles themselves. His approach is person-centred, relational, and rooted in the belief that change happens when people feel empowered, supported, and connected.

ROAR Kent continues to build partnerships across health, housing, social care, and the voluntary sector—delivering training, awareness campaigns, and grassroots engagement projects. Through its expanding network and leadership team, ROAR is creating a culture of inclusion, dignity, and equity across the communities of Kent.Find out more about the projects by emailing us or click the button below.

Hayden's Beacon of Hope SAR

About Hayden’s Beacon of Hope

Hayden’s Beacon of Hope is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) dedicated to providing life-saving support through specialist search and rescue (SAR) services. While currently operating as a non-registered charity, the organisation is actively undergoing the application process with the Charity Commission to formalise its charitable status.

Our mission is to offer direct assistance to those in immediate danger, distress, or vulnerability due to accident, illness, misadventure, or disaster. We work in close collaboration with emergency services to locate and safeguard missing or at-risk individuals, helping protect lives and strengthen community resilience.

In addition to frontline rescue efforts, we promote public safety by offering education and awareness around personal and outdoor risk management. We also support the wellbeing of our dedicated volunteers—offering training, mental health resources, and personal development opportunities to ensure their safety and effectiveness in the field.

All support provided by Hayden’s Beacon of Hope is free of charge and offered without discrimination to anyone in need. Any private benefit, such as training for our volunteers, is incidental and necessary to fulfilling our public purpose.

Our work is guided by the Charity Commission’s public benefit principles as outlined in the Charities Act 2011, ensuring that we continue to serve the public good with integrity, compassion, and professionalism.

Joe Ramsay Founder of Cura Mentis Architecture- Health System Architect @ Linn Ramsay Academy for Mental Health & Neurodiversity

Founder, Linn Ramsay Academy for Mental Health and Neurodiversity

Joe Ramsay is a respected registered and qualified Mental Health Nurse and a Neurodivergent Consultant professional  with a wealth of experience shaped by both professional expertise and lived experience. His work is defined by a deep commitment to advancing neurodiversity inclusion, improving mental health support, and creating systems that serve vulnerable and underrepresented communities with dignity, compassion, and understanding.

Joe works across community, education, and organisational settings, delivering consultancy, training, and strategy development focused on neurodiversity-informed practice, inclusive mental health care, and peer-led approaches. His insight into the barriers that many neurodivergent individuals face—whether in healthcare, education, or everyday life—enables him to design interventions that are both empathetic and effective.

A central part of Joe’s mission is realised through the Linn Ramsay Academy for Mental Health and Neurodiversity, an online platform he founded to provide free, high-quality self-help materials and training guides. These resources are used by individuals for personal development and by organisations as part of staff education and awareness programs. The Academy champions accessible, trauma-informed learning and promotes practical tools to support inclusion and wellbeing across all sectors. All resources are offered without cost, helping to remove barriers to knowledge and support.

Joe is widely known for his collaborative, values-led approach. He works alongside grassroots initiatives, community partners, and advocacy groups to co-develop workshops, campaigns, and inclusive projects. His work is grounded in a belief that lived experience holds power, and that meaningful change comes from centring voices too often overlooked.

Whether consulting on organisational culture, delivering awareness training, or supporting individuals through education, Joe’s focus remains clear: to create safe, inclusive, and empowering environments where neurodivergent and vulnerable people are not only supported—but valued.
